Cassington Bike Night is on!

Motorbikes from Pre-World War 1 to the modern day will be parked on the Village Green, playing field and the school grounds for everyone to view and share stories on June 30, from 4pm.

More villagers have joined the existing group of organisers to put the event back on track after it was reported that the event had been cancelled. The spirit of the event, which has taken place in the village for more than 25 years, will be at the heart of this year’s Bike Night, with food and drink stalls, a barbecue and the two village pubs offering refreshments.

Martin Ritchie, Chair of the Bike Night Committee, which has planned the event for the past two years, said: “We are gearing up for another successful Cassington Bike Night for bikers and enthusiasts from near and far to meet and enjoy our traditional village welcome.”

Cassington Bike Night has grown from an informal gathering of local bike club members meeting outside one of the village pubs, to a unique event expanding across the village with thousands of bikers and enthusiasts. Local village groups have become more involved and this year members from the village’s Sports and Social Club, St Peter’s Primary School, Cassington WI, St Peter’s Church Bells and the Village Hall are involved with the arrangements.

The main road through the village will be closed from 1.00pm until 11.00pm on the day with traffic diversions in place. Motorbikes will be able to enter the village and park as usual, and car parking will also be available on the outskirts. Marshals will provide directions, and permits will be distributed to villagers to ensure access. The event organisers are also working in conjunction with West Oxfordshire District Council to ensure all road diversions are clearly signed to help guide traffic around the road closure.
