Coded the C10 and designed under the guidance of Val Page the lightweight was powered by a 249cc (63 x 80mm) side valve engine with detachable cylinder head, coil ignition driving through a three-speed hand change gearbox. Priced at £37 the model with dry sump lubrication offered lively performance and good fuel economy, optional extras included a trip or non-trip Smith-Jaeger speedometer, pillion seat and pillion footrests.

Collaborating with the sale MC, organisers put in lots of work to ensure a smoothly run trial and of the original entry of 70 for the abortive December event just six withdrew most due to machine unavailability although Mr J H Kitto had set sail for India and warmer weather in the meantime. The December cold had given way to mild weather and what could be kindly described as soft going. Mud, extra water splashes, greasy grass slopes and more mud to you and I.
