Stuart’s 1939 example was bought quite by chance. He had spotted it at an antique shop and secured it for £75. There are no gears (later Autobyks had two-speed transmissions) but he says the engine has a surprising amount of torque and provides one of the easiest rides among his collection of ‘tiddlers.’ It also returns a remarkable 160mpg!
