The Cassington Bike Night is run annually by the British Motorcycle Riders Club (BMRC), who meet each Monday in local establishment the Red Lion at Cassington.
Sadly the event was cancelled last year after the council stated it needed to close roads because of road safety issues – despite there never having been a problem since the event started in 1978. Despite the cancellation nearly 3000 riders still turned up, but local charities lost out to the tune of £3000-plus.

So this year the parent teacher association of St Peter’s Primary School, who directly benefit, took over the show's running and worked with the council who waived fees and got all the various permits in place to close roads, while the BMRC took care of the classic exhibition on the green as usual.
The result was an increase in numbers as the whole spectrum of motorcycling attended to view historic machines right across the board from concours to original unrestored. Food and drink was supplied by the pubs and the PTA ensuring all tastes were catered for and classic firms like Royal Enfield gave everyone a chance to see how classics have progressed.
The Ace Cafe organised a run out to the event and the local TV attended to witness the good natured spectacle which again bolstered local funds. Even the weather stayed sunny ensuring everyone had a real classic summer’s riding night, heralding the return of Cassington to the annual classic calendar!
