In common with its rivals, AJS was continually developing its models, making its range – transmission-wise – one of the most advanced in the world, with fully enclosed chain guards and countershaft gearboxes for all models displayed at the November 1912 Olympia Show.
While the annual London Show was being set up at Olympia, end of season record breaking attempts were underway at Brooklands. G E ‘Wizard’ Stanley (499cc Singer) posted 73.11mph for the flying start five miles and 70.39mph for the standing start 10 miles in class C, then Jimmy Cocker, passengered by W Pickering (499cc Singer outfit), posted 56.39mph and 58.94mph over the same distances in class G.

Despite being a hefty lad, TT rider R O Clark (pictured) set a host of records on a tiny 273cc FN and Tommy Greene, paired with Cyril Pullin, (499cc Rudge) broke a range of five-to-seven hour and 250 to 400 mile records.
Riding a 349cc V-twin NSU Lt R N Stewart set new eight and nine hour plus 350 mile class B records and then later in the month Max Heinzel (190cc NSU) broke the three hour class A and Clark’s three hour class A1 records.
