Peter Thomas raced a BSA C15-powered Hagon grass track bike. With a suitable change of rubberware, it took him to an 18.33/72mph best over the two days. Justin Newell must have one of the best-preserved, over-the-counter Hagon sprint bikes. Now fitted with a supercharged and much modified Triumph, he ran 10.49/132mph, but improved on Sunday to 10.34/133mph. Andy Forward was having yet another go at exorcising the demons of the Impulse sprint sidecar. He reported steps in the right direction as he also enjoyed more straightforward outings on his lean and low Morado Triumph. Tim Howell's unusual choice of power is a BSA A65, which receives a considerable boost from supercharging. By Sunday, he had whittled his time down to 11.76, but had also run a 120mph terminal.
Douglas-mounted Henry Body, although quickest of the Vintage riders, was running some way off his class record time. John Young appeared on Saturday only, with his 500 Triumph-JAP. The Tottenham manufacturer was provided the power-plants for Roy Siddall's New Imperial and Peter Thomas's OK-Supreme.
